During the 17th China Nut and Dried Fruit Food Exhibition, the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) released a report on global production and demand of nuts and dried fruits, as well as China's demand. The report shows that the total global production of tree nuts has continued to increase in the past 10 seasons, with an annual compound growth rate of 5%. Except for pine nuts, all tree nut varieties have maintained an upward trend, with walnuts, pistachios, and magnolia showing the largest increase in yield. The import volume of Chinese tree nuts has been increasing year by year, exceeding 320000 tons, with a compound annual growth rate of 6%.

Looking back at the 2014/15 season, based on the calculation of kernels, the global production of almond was 1.0758 million tons, cashews was 725600 tons, walnuts were 629200 tons, pistachios (calculated as shells) were 569000 tons, pistachios were 123000 tons, hazelnuts were 376900 tons, macadamia was 47600 tons, Brazilian chestnuts were 28500 tons, and pine nuts were 40000 tons.

In the 2023/24 season, global production of almond increased to 1.4221 million tons, cashews increased to 1.1881 million tons, walnuts increased to 1.1571 million tons, pistachios (calculated as shells) increased to 1.0823 million tons, hazelnuts increased to 510300 tons, pecans increased to 143300 tons, macadamia increased to 84800 tons, Brazilian chestnuts increased to 30000 tons, and pine production fell to 26300 tons.

During this period, the annual compound growth rate of almond was 3%, the annual compound growth rate of cashews was 6%, the annual compound growth rates of walnuts, pistachios, and macadamia were all 7%, hazelnuts were 3%, blueberry was 2%, Brazilian chestnut was 0.6%, and pine was -5%.

Between the 2014/15 and 2023/24 seasons, the total global production of tree nuts increased from 3.6 million tons to 5.6 million tons, with only a slight decline in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, maintaining an overall growth trend with a compound annual growth rate of 5%. The United States, China, Turkey, Cote d'Ivoire and Iran are the world's major tree nut producers. For China, walnut production accounts for 91% of the total tree nut production.

From 2013 to 2022, the total import and export volume of global tree nuts (excluding pistachios, based on nuts) increased year by year, reaching 2.9 million tons in 2013, a peak of 4.5 million tons in 2021, and a slight decrease to 4.3 million tons in 2022. During this period, only 2018 and 2022 saw a slight decline, with an annual compound growth rate of 4%. Specifically, the import and export volume of various types of nuts also varies: almond and pistachio have maintained stable growth throughout the entire range, increasing from 900000 tons and 400000 tons to 1.4 million tons and 500000 tons, respectively. The import and export volume of cashews reached 1.1 million tons in 2015, and has since remained above 1 million tons, reaching a peak of 1.5 million tons in 2021. However, in 2022, it has decreased by 400000 tons compared to 2021.
